The Swedish marksman has etched his name alongside Italian top-flight greats after netting in his eighth consecutive league game.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the back of the net twice as AC Milan grabbed all three points with a 3-1 win against Napoli.

The big Swede opened the scoring with a sublime header before netting his second of the night with a composed finish from close range on Ante Rebic’s cross.

Ibrahimovic took his tally to 10 goals in just six games in Serie A while also extending his goalscoring streak to eight consecutive matches.

He now holds the record for being the oldest player to score at least 10 goals in the first eight league matches and is only the fourth player in Serie A history to score in the first six games of the season.

Eyebrows were raised when the Rossoneri brought back the 39-year-old last season and again when he was handed a one-year contract, with concerns whether he would be able to perform at top level late in his career.

Those critics have now been silenced as the veteran striker continues to shoulder the goalscoring responsibility elegantly.

Ibrahimovic’s heroics helped Milan remain unbeaten in the league, with the team currently holding a two-point lead at the top of the table against second-placed Sassuolo.
