Ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League match, Zinedine Zidane left his ideas of the European Super League quite clear.
Florentino Perez’s European Super League plans left Zidane and Real Madrid players in a tight spot. Although many of the club’s supporters agree with the idea of Los Blancos creating this new tournament. Zinedine Zidane just revealed that he doesn’t really agree with Florentino’s initiative. In fact, ‘Zizou’ just told the press that he wants his squad to be part of the UEFA Champions League next season.
This leaves a pretty clear division between the manager and the club’s president. How will Florentino react to this statement from Zidane? It’s well known that the French manager doesn’t always agree with everything the president does. Back when he decided to leave the club in 2018, it was evident they didn’t agree with something important.
Zidane wants to continue in the Champions League.
In a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Chelsea, Sky Sports picked up the following statement about the Super League: “The president knows what I have in my heart and what I think, and we are here to prepare [for] tomorrow’s match. The rest is not that we are not interested, it’s just not the moment to talk about it. We are going to play a Champions League semi-final, and that’s all we can think about.
“We have a match tomorrow, I’m sorry but I’m not going to answer about that. Right now people are talking a lot about whether we will be in the competition next year or not. We have to pay attention to tomorrow’s match. We don’t control that, there’s going to be a lot of conversation, and I’m just giving my opinion. We want to see Real Madrid in the next Champions League, and that’s it.”
