Zinedine Zidane is satisfied with his Real Madrid squad and doesn’t have any plans to add new faces before the transfer deadline.

Zidane made full use of a blank checkbook last summer to invest a club-record €352.5m on signing several new players for Real Madrid, including Eden Hazard and Ferland Mendy.

The summer of 2020, however, has been the complete opposite for the LaLiga champions. Restrained from the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, Real Madrid haven’t parted with even a cent on new players. Recalling Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Sociedad is the only ‘major arrival’.

Not even the departures of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, and Brahim Diaz have prompted Los Blancos to seek reinforcements.

But Zidane is content with his current options and reiterated on Saturday that he isn’t in the market for any recruits.

“No. We spoke about this before. I’m happy with the squad that I’ve got,” replied the Real Madrid boss when quizzed on any possible new signings as quoted on the club’s website.

“We are what we are and we’re going to try to have a successful season.”

Real Madrid, meanwhile, bagged their first win of the new season by overcoming a testing encounter against Real Betis by a 3-2 scoreline.

Goals from Aissa Mandi and William Carvalho before the break canceled out Federico Valverde’s early opener to give Betis a surprise lead in Seville.

But an own goal from Emerson, who is on loan from Barcelona, undid their advantage, with Sergio Ramos’ late penalty sealing a 3-2 win over the 10-man hosts.

“In the end it was a very complicated, difficult game,” admitted Zidane.

“The players have given their all. It’s three very important points for us at a complicated ground and against a team who have just won their first two games. We are happy. We know there is a long way to go and that we can and will improve”.

“We started very well for the first 15-20 minutes. Then after the goal, we relaxed a bit, it’s very tough. We’re better when we’re looking forward and really going after the game.

“They scored twice in quick succession and then we had a better second 45 minutes. The players kept believing until the end and that’s how we got the result.”

Real Madrid will next face Real Valladolid on Wednesday for their first home game of the season.
