During a recent interview, Toure Yaya made a surprising statement about his long feud with Pep Guardiola in his Manchester City days.

The feud between Toure Yaya and Pep Guardiola was overly publicized for what it actually was. We all know that Pep never really liked Toure as a player, he often refers to footballers with a giant ego and how he can’t work with them. Unfortunately, some of these players were African and Toure got mixed signals from that. It happened with Samuel Eto’o as well, but Toure never understood that race wasn’t relevant in this case.

After publicly coming after Pep and basically calling him a racist, the Manchester City manager took a long time to forgive him. Actually, Yaya was almost banned from the institution for merely making this suggestion. Now that some time has passed, Toure wants to make amends and have a clean slate. There’s a famous saying that goes: “You don’t want to burn your bridges.” That’s exactly what Yaya is doing right now.

Toure extends Guardiola an olive branch.

The comments in question were made on France Football a few years back during a troubling time for Yaya. He completely regrets making them and he wishes Manchester City can forgive him for that. “That interview was my big, huge mistake,” Toure told the Daily Mail. “When you give your trust, your voice to someone, they can twist it. I was aware some staff were not happy.

“I emailed a letter to try to communicate with some important people there to apologize and say I’ve been indecent to the club but I haven’t had any feedback. All I want is peace. We don’t want this [acrimony] all the time. For the love of the fans, for the love of the club, sometimes things have to be settled the right way. I’ve been in touch with some people there.”
