Xavi reveals Barcelona's plan to beat Real Madrid

Xavi has revealed why FC Barcelona can defeat bitter rivals Real Madrid in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez believes his side can beat Real Madrid by staying true to their principles.

For the second year in a row, Barcelona will play Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final. Xavi’s side won 3-1 last year in Saudi Arabia to clinch a record 14th title in the competition.

They sealed their spot in this weekend’s final in Riyadh by beating Osasuna 2-0 on Thursday.

“The example to follow is last year’s final when we won 3-1. We were much better,” Xavi told reporters on why Barca can win the Super Cup final.

“Despite losing to Madrid in LaLiga this season, we also played well until the 60th minute. We feel we could have got more from the game.

“We have to take the ball from Madrid and our DNA must shine through more than ever. Madrid are in better form than last year, but we will try to dominate them and play toe-to-toe.

“It’s the ideal setting and moment for us to show our best football. We are up for it.”

Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal scored the goals in the club’s semi-final victory against Osasuna.

Despite losing 2-1 to Real Madrid at home in October, Barcelona are currently in good form. They’ve now won their last four competitive games and scored at least two goals in each match.
