With all the rumors about his future still fresh, Xavi Hernandez spoke about Joan Laporta’s new role as FC Barcelona’s new president.
Xavi Hernandez is one of the FC Barcelona legends who positioned himself in support of Joan Laporta presidential bid. He has a piece of the pie reserved just for him as the club’s possible manager after Koeman leaves. During his time as Al-Sadd’s manager in Qatar, Xavi already won every title he could lift with his club. But more importantly, he loves using that same football philosophy that took him to the top of the world.
Laporta and other candidates have been keeping tabs on Xavi since he started his managerial career. But Joan is the one who made him some important promises if he won the most recent elections. It’s only natural that Xavi supports Laporta with such vehemence. He is only waiting for the phone call that will secure him a spot on the roster.
Xavi praises Messi and Laporta.
During a recent interview, Xavi Hernandez revealed what he expects from Laporta’s new role. He also said the following about Messi: “Hopefully. I think Barcelona needs Messi and Messi needs Barcelona,” Xavi told BeIN Sports. “So it is a matter of time. Let’s see, but hopefully he can continue with Barcelona.” Laporta is a good friend and I know him very well,” Xavi added.
“He will do the best for Barca. He is a very good guy. The best president that I had in Barcelona. So Barcelona will come back for sure – for the results, for economically. There are now many problems to solve, but I think Laporta can do everything. I wish them all the best. Of course I am in touch with Laporta. I am very happy for him.”
