Raul Jimenez has been a revelation ever since he arrived from Benfica, scoring goals for fun under Nuno Santo’s tutelage at the Molineaux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers finished the 2019/20 Premier League season in seventh place. They also made it to Europa League semi-finals, losing out to eventual champions Sevilla.

Key to their success has been Raul Jimenez. The Mexican forward has been prolific at the Molineaux and their chief goal threat. He finished the current campaign with 27 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

It is only just that continental big wigs have been impressed by his performances. Juventus have been linked with him services and want them to replace Gonzalo Higuain.

Wolves legend, John Richards, believes it is unlikely Jimenez will depart anytime soon. Richards scored 194 goals for the Wolves and feels his Mexican reincarnation will stay as the club do not have to sell him.

King John added that only a transfer request by the player would force the Wolves’ hand in the situation.

“Wolves are in a good position. They don’t have to sell,” Richards told the Express and Star.

“They’re in a strong position financially and there is no pressure on them to sell,”

“First of all, it’s whether anyone is prepared to spend what would have to be silly money to get him. That’s the only thing that would tempt Wolves to do it.

“I just feel Wolves have got the upper hand at the moment in all the negotiations. They’re an ambitious club.

“There are not many strikers of that sort of standard around, so why would you let one go? He’s got another three years left on his contract, so there is no pressure whatsoever from a club point of view.

“The only way I can see him going is if Jimenez says himself that he doesn’t want to play for Wolves anymore. And I haven’t seen anything to say that’s the way he’s thinking.”
