The Red Devils dropped all three points at home in the opening match of their European campaign.

Villarreal are “under pressure a little bit to get points” against Manchester United, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while also insisting winning is important for his side as well.

Manchester United had a bright start to their season but are going through a bit of a rough patch currently.

United have managed just a single victory in their last four games across all competitions. They suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Young Boys on Champions League group stage matchday, crashed out of the Football League Cup following a 1-0 loss against West Ham, and were beaten by Aston Villa in the Premier League last time out.

Up next is a tough test for the Red Devils as they lock horns with a team they lost out to in the Europa League finals last season.

Asked if winning against Villarreal is important, Solskjaer told the Man United media: “Yeah, definitely.

“We had a disappointing start. When you get a man sent off, it always makes it difficult and we couldn’t hold out for one point or three points.

“And they drew at home, which probably puts them under pressure a little bit to get points and results, so it should be tight and a good game.

“They’re a very well organised team, very hard to beat. There have been so many tight games and I don’t think they’ve lost since they played us. They beat Elche but apart from that, it’s just been draws, with Atletico Madrid, with Atalanta, with Chelsea in the Super Cup final. It’s always tight games against them.”
