Wijnaldum set to leave Liverpool for Spanish side this summer

Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly chosen to leave Liverpool at the end of the season to complete a move to La Liga.

According to the latest reports, Georginio Wijnaldum is set to complete an exit from Liverpool to join Barcelona this summer.

The midfielder has finally sealed his move to Barcelona after penning a pre-contract agreement with the Spanish giants, The 30-year-old’s future has been shrouded with uncertainty for some time, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Wijnaldum came close to joining Barcelona last summer, having worked with manager Ronald Koeman on the international scene with the Netherlands.

According to the Sunday Times, the Catalans might have gotten their wish, with the Dutch international now set for a move to the Camp Nou.

Wijnaldum is now set to become the first signing for Barcelona in the summer window, as the Spanish giants look to strengthen their squad after fallen standards of late.

Since he joined the Reds in 2016, the midfielder has been a key player under Jurgen Klopp, playing a major role in their Champions League triumph in 2019.

Jurgen Klopp has spoken severally about Wijnaldum’s importance to the club, but insists he won’t deny the 30-year-old an opportunity to move elsewhere.
