Rhian Brewster was Liverpool’s savior in their pre-season friendly against RB Salzburg, scoring a brace in his substitute performance.

RB Salzburg gave Liverpool a good test in their second pre-season friendly. The Austrian side took a two-goal lead before Rhian Brewster’s double salvo from the bench saved face for the Reds.

James Milner provided the assist for the first, with Curtis Jones doing the heavy lifting for Brewster’s second.

The brace did not impress Georginio Wijnaldum and he had his reasons. Wijnaldum shared that he is aware of Brewster’s quality and expects more of the same from him in the future.

“I’m not ‘impressed’, because I know already which kind of quality he has,” the Dutchman told the Reds’ official website.

“We trained together for a few years and he showed also in training that his finishing is unbelievable, so I’m not really impressed!”

Jurgen Klopp has given most of his squad members minutes on the pitch. Wijnaldum believes this will be a fixture during the coming season.

The Netherlands international pointed at the long season ahead and feels haveing a big squad will help them stay ahead.

“That’s how it should be. Now we have the fixtures we all know it’s going to be a really difficult season with a lot of games, so a lot of players will play a lot of games,” Wijanldum added.

“So if you have a lot of players who can bring quality to the pitch, it makes it even better for the team. We are really happy that the guys who came in, the young players, made the difference today.”

Liverpool will defend their Premier League title this season. They can add silverware to their ranks early in the form of the Community Shield at the expense of Arsenal.
