The Reds boss is aware of the demanding nature of the task to try and overturn their first-leg deficit but says his side won’t shy away from it.

Jurgen Klopp admits a comeback against Real Madrid will be much more difficult in the current circumstances but insists Liverpool will “go for it”.

Liverpool find themselves at a heavy disadvantage ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals second-leg, having suffered a 3-1 loss in the first leg at the Alfredo Di Stefano last week.

As calamitous the scoreline is, the Premier League champions have turned the tie around from a worse position.

The Reds beat the odds to dump Barcelona, who beat them 3-0 in the semi-final first-leg, out of the competition back in 2019 after a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Klopp, however, feels producing a similar turnaround will be more difficult in the absence of fans at Anfield.

“When you are 3-1 down it looks like you are already out and you have not a lot to lose, but we will give it a try and go for it,” Klopp said in his pre-match press conference, via Marca.

“That’s the job we have to do. They were better than us in the first leg and we were not as good as we could have been but it’s the first half.

“The result is a problem and the quality of the opponent. There’s just one extra problem – no supporters in the stadium. We have to create our own atmosphere.”
