Aston Villa’s manager Dean Smith believes James Maddison and Jack Grealish share a lot of similarities.
Aston Villa and Leicester City go head-to-head in the Premier League this Sunday afternoon in a much-anticipated fixture. Both sides have been exceeding expectations this season. Nevertheless, although the credit goes out to the collective, some players have stood out more than others.
This is the case of English midfielders James Maddison and Jack Grealish, two young footballers who have taken the Premier League by storm. Not only have they taken charge of creative play for their teams, Grealish and Maddison have contributed with several goals and assists this season.
Although there are plenty of differences between the pair, Aston Villa’s manager Dean Smith has chosen to see the similarities. The Villans’ boss is well aware of Maddison’s talent. In fact, Smith knows that the player can be a big threat to his side this Sunday.
“They’re both very talented players, they’re very good players, both English. I’ve spoken about Jack an awful lot this season already with what he’s produced, not just on the ball but off the ball as well. His numbers are getting better in terms of goals and assists.
But you can make the same claim as well with James Maddison, who’s come off the ranks not far from me at Coventry via Norwich. He’s taken the Premier League by storm himself. Very creative force, scores very good goals as well.”
Gareth Southgate’s headache?
Additionally, Smith also mentioned how lucky England’s manager Southgate is to have such a pool of talent available. However, it can’t be easy to put out a starting lineup when you have this amount of stunning midfielders to choose from.
“They’re just both very good players. Gareth Southgate must be licking his lips to have those kind of players at his disposal.”
