Ligue 1 champions PSG are one of the favorites to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner in next summer’s transfer window.

Arsene Wenger reckons Paris Saint-Germain would risk disrupting the balance of their squad if they were to sign Lionel Messi.

The Parisians, along with Premier League giants Manchester City, are reportedly one of Messi’s favored destinations should he leave Barcelona once his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old still has plenty to offer on the pitch and can compete with the world’s finest players. Even in his unsettling circumstances at Camp Nou, he continues to deliver consistently strong performances.

But with two superstars in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, along with a host of other promising talents, in their ranks already, do PSG really need to sign Messi?

“Lionel Messi is one of the two best players in the world,” former Arsenal boss Wenger explained to Europe 1.

“Those who will replace Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are already at PSG [Neymar and Mbappe].

“After that, it’s a question of balance in the club, a technical balance and a financial balance. Can you keep the balance at PSG by bringing in players like Messi? I’m not sure.”

A 3-0 defeat to Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday will only have raised further doubts over Messi’s Barcelona future.

Although that will be the least of PSG’s worries right now, as their own Champions League game was postponed until Wednesday after a match official was accused of using racial language towards a member of Istanbul Basaksehir’s backroom staff.
