It has been said that the Frenchman is one of the expandable players for the Spanish manager who is planning a squad overhaul.

Arsenal will soon open contract negotiations with Alexandre Lacazette, informs Mikel Arteta with the manager hopeful that the player will commit his future to the club.

Lacazette’s future is yet again a subject of speculations. He was linked with Atletico Madrid and Roma last summer and now with a return to Monaco.

Recent reports claim there the Gunners, should they receive the right offer, will cash in on the 29-year-old at the end of the season.

The French forward has less than 18 months remaining on his current contract at the Emirates, and Arteta is hoping that he follows in the footsteps of Piere-Emerick Aubameyang and agrees to fresh terms.

“He’s got a contract with us. He played really well the other week. It’s exactly what we demand him to do,” the Spanish manager said ahead of Arsenal’s match against Burnley, via Goal.

“I’m really happy with him and the discussions about his contract will happen soon and we will see what happens.”

“I’m hoping that a player under contract will continue with us. Every case is different and we’re going to assess that and we’ll make a decision in relation to that.”
