Arsenal legend Tony Adams has weighed in on the club’s right-back options, claiming Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares are not good enough.

Tony Adams is of the opinion that Arsenal should move on from current right-back options in Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares.

The Gunners legend has been critical of the Spaniard in the past while the signing of Cedric from Southampton raised eyebrows.

Bellerin has blown hot and cold this season, having failed to perform consistently at the top level. Ever since his return from injury, the full-back has looked a shadow of his former self.

Cedric was brought in to ‘rival’ Bellerin but has also failed to put together a consistent string of performances.

Seeing as the arrival of Cedric didn’t bring any significant improvement, Tony Adams has urged Arsenal to sell both right-backs to raise funds for a good one.

He told Stadium Astro: “If you’re bringing players in who are a lesser standard, you don’t get someone that’s less than what you’ve got.”

“Cedric, is he better than Bellerin? Have you made an improvement there? Take it or leave it.”

“Or are you telling me we need two? Get rid of two and get a good one! That would be the opinion that I would have.”

“You always bring in players better than the ones you have got or don’t bring them to the club.”

With the above in mind, the Gunners could well consider selling Bellerin this summer. The 25-year-old is on the radar of Barcelona and PSG and would still command a decent transfer fee.

On the other hand, Cedric is already 29 and only recently joined the Gunners on a four-year deal. Offloading the Portuguese could be a rather difficult task.
