Atletico Madrid are flying high at the top of La Liga but Diego Simeone is refusing to get carried away just yet.
Regardless of their lead at the top of La Liga, Diego Simeone is focused on the present and doesn’t want to look way ahead of himself.
Los Rojiblancos are currently seven points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table going into Monday’s match against Celta Vigo.
A win for Atletico could see them go ten points clear at the top of the table as they hope to win their first league title since 2014.
Simeone was the one who led them to that triumph, and it is believed the Argentine could yet achieve the feat again.
In fact, many believe Atletico have all but won the league, and there’s stopping them.
However, Simeone is taking a different approach and would only talk about the title at the end of the season.
The 50-year-old also says he can’t compare the current Atletico squad to the title-winners of 2014.
When asked to point out any similarities with the current squad, Simeone said as per Goal: “Until we reach the end of the season, the teams will not be able to be compared.”
“We are only crossing the first part of the season. I never looked for comparisons.”
