Barcelona target cut-price deal for €100m-rated striker

Villarreal star Gerard Moreno has emerged as Barcelona’s Plan B in the club’s transfer search for a new striker.

While Robert Lewandowski is Barca’s top target, a deal for the Bayern Munich frontman is difficult. Therefore, Moreno’s name has cropped up. The Spaniard is a proven talent in La Liga and has excelled in Europe, proving instrumental in Villarreal’s run to Europa League success in 2020/21.

Barcelona boss Xavi feels Moreno fits the bill, and while the 30-year-old has a €100 million release clause, Villarreal could accept a transfer fee of around €40 million instead.[Diario Sport – in Spanish]
