The game could’ve gone either way when the Whites met their long-lost rivals but it was the opponents who asserted their dominance.

Leeds United felt the full wrath of Manchester United on their return to Old Trafford for Premier League action after 16 long years.

The newly-promoted side were humiliated 6-2 in a match that saw an outrageous 43 shots on goal.

The result leaves them as the team with the worst defensive record in the campaign with 30 goals conceded from the opening 14 games.

However, on the other side of the coin, the Whites have found the back of the net 24 times so far which is more times than any other side in the bottom half of the table.

Leeds have earned plaudits for their high-energy and high-pressing playing style but it also leaves them vulnerable far too often, as apparent from the result in Manchester.

Bielsa, however, is not ready to alter his high risk and high reward tactics.

“In the first half we had similar chances to the ones they had but we weren’t able to score,” Bielsa told Sky Sports.

“Our attacks came from combination play and their attacks came from the fact we were losing the ball in attacking positions, and they would transition from defense to attack. Our return was slower than their transition.

“[At half-time] we were losing by a big margin and I wanted to make the couple in midfield more competitive and make them recover the ball easier.

“We will not abandon the way we play.”
