Scott McTominay stole the headlines as a dominant Manchester United put six past Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Not many could have predicted the result as Manchester United thumped Leeds with a 6-2 scoreline at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes both grabbed a brace while Victor Lindelof and Daniel James completed the rout.

United got a dream start after McTominay scored twice inside the first three minutes to put his side 2-0 up. The 24-year-old also made some history with those goals as he became the only ever player to score two quickfire that early in the game.

The game looked to have been put beyond doubt when Bruno Fernandes made it 3-0 in the 20th minute. The Portuguese fired home from close range after a loose ball fell to his path following a counter-attack from United.

The much-respected Bielsa could only watch in despair from the flanks as Lindelof was left unmarked to make it 4-0 after a header from Martial found him clear on goal.

Cooper pulled one back for Leeds in the 41st minute to mark the end of a ‘long’ first half for his side.

It got worse for Leeds when Daniel James made it 5-0 in the 66th minute after he fired past Meslier’s legs. Bruno Fernandes wanted a brace of his own and got the chance after United were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute. As he usually does, the 26-year-old stepped up calmly to score United’s sixth of the day.

Three minutes later, Dallas scored from a fine finish for Leeds’ second but it was only a mere consolation.

It was the first time United and Leeds have met in the Premier League since 2004 and it was a comprehensive victory for the Red Devils.

The win takes United up to the third place and five points off first place Liverpool with a game in hand.
