Andrea Pirlo was left with a bad taste after his side’s Champions League defeat, and the Juve boss made no effort to hide his frustration.

Juventus suffered a 2-0 beating at the hands of FC Barcelona in the Champions League Group G matchday 2 fixture, though the scoreline is not an accurate representation of the whole story.

The Serie A champions could have scored at least thrice, and probably won, had Alvaro Morata had a better positioning in front of goal. Morata scored a hat-trick of goals last night but all his efforts were ruled out for offside.

In the absence of star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who is recovering from coronavirus, the team have struggled to put their A-game on. Wednesday marked the second successive occasion that Juve failed to register a win.

Andrea Pirlo noticed how a number of his players struggled to put on the desired level of performance, and that they must now try to improve both physically and mentally.

“We have to improve a lot in terms of attitude, in being good at playing this kind of game,” Pirlo said post-match, via Goal.

“For many players, it was one of those games they had never played, one of the first appearances in Champions League and therefore the difference in terms of personality and skill at playing this kind of game becomes visible. We will need this to improve in the future.”
