Atalanta have agreed terms with Mergim Vojvoda and only the transfer remains to be negotiated with Standard Liege.

After a long 2019/20 season, Atalanta players finally got some time off. However, the backroom staff is busy to prepare the squad for next season’s trials.

It will be a tough season and La Dea will need strength in numbers as they fight on numerous fronts. Gian Piero Gasperini has identified the right-back berth as a priority reinforcement area.

The club have delivered on their commitment and are reinforcing the first-team squad with Mergim Vojvoda.

The Kosovo international with Belgian nationality has agreed terms with the club. Vojvoda shared that he had numerous offers but decided on the exciting project at Bergamo.

“Atalanta representatives have come to Belgium two or three times to see me,” Football Italia quoted Vojvoda.

“I agreed terms with them and I now expect the two clubs to work out the details together. We’ll know after their meeting on Monday. There are another three clubs interested in me too, but so far Atalanta are definitely the best prospect.”

Atalanta will now negotiate terms with Standard Liege. It is expected that they will pay somewhere between €4-6 million including bonuses.

As Vojvoda joins the club, Castagne is heading out. The right-back has spent three years with Atalanta but wants to head out in search of new adventures.
