Aston Villa have successfully completed the second signing of the January transfer window in the name of Lucas Digne.
Aston Villa have officially signed a £25 million agreement with Everton for France international Lucas Digne.
The 28-year-old now becomes the second signing of the January transfer window for Steven Gerrard’s side. Earlier, they brought Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona on a loan move.
Digne spent three-and-a-half years at Goodison Park after spells at PSG, Roma, and Barca. However, an ill-fated event with head coach Raphael Benitez triggered his transfer out of the Merseyside club.
The defender has accomplished several titles in France and Spain and represented his country at both World Cup and European Championship.
Speaking to Villa’s official website, Gerrard said: “When Lucas became available we jumped at the opportunity to bring him to the club.”
“To sign a player of his pedigree and quality in the January window is a great addition to our squad and his arrival excites me and everyone associated with Aston Villa.”
