Mesut Ozil looks to be in good spirits for Arsenal after a video emerged of the German in training and particularly in sync with Mikel Arteta.
Mesut Ozil has been frozen from the Arsenal setup for some time now but the German was recently spotted in a good mood at the club’s training ground.
The midfielder has not been included in an Arsenal match-day squad since the 2-0 Premier League win over Southampton in June.
Ozil was even a substitute in that victory, meaning his last appearance for the Gunners was back in March when he laid on the assist for Alexandre Lacazette’s late winner against West Ham.
Arsenal were reportedly keen to shift the midfielder in the summer transfer window but a lack of interest and his huge wages saw the 31-year-old stay put at the club.
Ozil has less than 12 months remaining on his current Gunners contract of around £350,000 a week.
But Arteta has refused to rule out a return to the first team for the German in recent weeks.
And it appears relations between the two former team-mates are still at a ‘good’ level.
Ozil was part of Arsenal’s training session on Wednesday morning for players who were not on international duty.
In a live Sky Sports News video of the session, the midfielder looked in a jubilant mood. He was seen sharing jokes with his team-mates before saying hello to Arteta with a friendly-looking fist bump.
Some fans are already even convinced it means Ozil could finally get back to playing under Arteta.
The Gunners take on Manchester City after the international break and it remains to be seen what happens to the German who remains frozen from the Arsenal XI.
