Rapide Oued Zen goalkeeper Mehdi Ouaya put the ball behind his own side’s net in the strangest way possible during a relegation-deciding game.
Hassania Union Sport defeated relegation rivals Rapide Oued 2-0 in a Moroccan top-tier league game on Saturday. With both sides stuck in the rock bottom of the league table, the match was almost a season-decider.
Maybe it was the intensity of the game that assisted Rapide Oued goalkeeper Mehdi Ouaya in creating the most bizarre moment of the night.
The hosts were already down one goal when one of Ouaya’s teammates delivered a hard-to-control backpass to him. The ball bounced off the keeper’s boots before, in everyone’s disbelief, he blasted it into the top of his side’s net.
