Pep Guardiola is close friends with Thomas Tuchel and has hailed the German as ‘exceptional’ after he was appointed Chelsea manager.
Pep Guardiola is more than convinced Chelsea have themselves a ‘capable’ manager in Thomas Tuchel.
The German took charge of his first training with the Blues on Tuesday evening following the sacking of Frank Lampard.
Chelsea will be hopeful the Thomas Tuchel era begins with a win when they welcome Wolves to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
Guardiola is well familiar with the German having come up against him during his time in the Bundesliga.
Tuchel took charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund during his time in German football and ran Bayern close for the Bundesliga in his stint with Die Borussen.
Guardiola is certain the new Chelsea manager will impress after taking on one of the most demanding jobs in English football.
“Welcome. He’s an exceptional manager” said Guardiola.
“I’m pretty sure he will have success. Happy to see him here in this country.”
“When I was at Bayern Munich I played against him at Mainz.”
“At the last season at Dortmund he did an incredible job, the way Dortmund played was outstanding. We fought a lot as Bayern Munich to win that title.”
“He’s a friend of mine and I’m happy to see him.”
