To cap off the season for Man City, Ferran Torres might’ve just scored a goal of the season contender against Newcastle United.

Ferran Torres has to be one of Man City’s most underrated players right now, the man always delivers when he gets on the pitch. Pep Guardiola had a great idea when he brought the youngster from Valencia as he was thinking about the club’s future. Other than Kevin De Bruyne (40%) and Phil Foden (37%), Torres is the player with the most goal involvements when he is on the pitch (36%). Today was perfect for Pep Guardiola to give some players who don’t get to play much a chance to shine.

Torres is amongst those players who definitely deserve to play more at Manchester City but there is a hierarchy to follow. The youngster completely understands this is not his moment to be a starter yet, he will remain patient. However, today’s performance definitely puts him in a great position for Guardiola’s plans in the upcoming season. With Sergio Aguero leaving the club this summer, the Citizens need a player who can score many goals throughout the year.

An outrageous goal and a hat-trick.

With Gabriel Jesus not reaching the needed quota of goals per season, Pep Guardiola thought he needed to buy a striker in the summer transfer window. But let’s take a look at what Ferran Torres has been doing this season, shall we? With the Spanish National team, he presented himself with an impressive hat-trick against Germany. It happened during the UEFA Nations League match against their counterpart.

Today, he got his first Premier League hat-trick after only 23 matches played for Manchester City. Just to put things in perspective. Players like Marcus Rashford, Gabriel Jesus, or Alexandre Lacazette have never scored a Premier League hat-trick. Out of all those goals he scored in his side’s win against Newcastle, the backheel strike was definitely the best of them all. This one has the potential to be nominated for goal of the season in English football. It was that good. Please, take a look for yourself.
