Memphis Depay sent his ‘brother’ and Dutch teammate Virgil van Dijk a message of support after the Liverpool star’s injury.

A knee injury is set to sideline Van Dijk for at least six months following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw away to Everton on October 17.

The Dutch center-back’s injury came as a result of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s reckless challenge. It forced him off at only the 11th-minute and a long road to recovery now awaits.

Countless tributes and well wishes have since come in for Van Dijk from fans, players, and coaches alike since Liverpool confirmed his anterior cruciate ligament damage.

And now Depay, who has played alongside Van Dijk for the Netherlands national team since 2015, has joined the 29-year-old’s growing list of well-wishers.

The former Manchester United winger headed to the nearest camera to unveil a message after scoring Lyon’s opening goal against AS Monaco on Sunday.

It read: “Virgil, stay strong my brother.”

Lyon won the game 4-1, with Karl Toko Ekambi grabbing a brace and Houssem Aouar scoring a penalty in between the forward’s goals.

Rudi Garcia’s side are up to sixth in the latest Ligue 1 standings on 13 points from eight games and five points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
