The Chilean midfielder risks missing as many as four upcoming fixtures as he could be out of action for as long as up to a month.

Arturo Vidal is set to undergo surgery to treat the “meniscal pain in his left knee” on Friday, Inter Milan have confirmed.

No official timeframe was provided on the 33-year-old’s recovery, but reports in Italy claim he could remain on the sidelines for 25-30 days.

It means in the worst-case scenario, the midfielder will return just in time to face Napoli on April 18 as he is expected to miss his side’s Serie A outings against Torino, Sassuolo, Bologna, and Cagliari.

A brief statement on the official club website read: “Tomorrow Arturo Vidal will undergo surgery at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano for meniscal pain in his left knee.”

Vidal started in Inter’s 1-0 victory over Atalanta on Monday but was subbed off eight minutes before the hour-mark.

The Chile international, who joined the club last summer, has suffered several injury setbacks this season.

The former FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus man has been restricted to just 11 league starts so far this term and has featured 30 times across all competitions.
