The Dutchman appears to have struck up a fine connection on the pitch with the Frenchman despite being teammate for less than two months.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman was left impressed with Memphis Depay and Antoine Griezman’s partnership during his side’s victory over Stuttgart.

Depay and Griezman put in great shifts as Barcelona emerged 3-0 victorious in their latest pre-season warm-up fixture on Saturday.

The summer signing stylishly opened the scoring, flicking the ball over the head of a defender and smashing it home. He then played a clever backheelΒ pass to release the former Atletico Madrid, and the move ended up in the visitors doubling their lead at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

If the two forwards keep up their excellent link-up in the new season, Barca’s attack, which also includes the likes of Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Martin Braithwaite, could be a force to reckon with.

“Today, he showed he can score as he scored the first with an individual piece of play,” Koeman told of Depay in his post-match press conference, reports Marca.

“With his play, speed and strength, he gives other things to the team. His partnership with Antoine Griezmann was very good.

“We have players who can play in different positions in attack. We’ll also have Sergio Aguero. I hope Lionel [Messi] returns too. So, we have quality up front.”
