Manchester United are confident of pulling off a £40million transfer for Donny van de Beek from Ajax in the light of recent events.
Manchester United have recently ramped up their efforts to capture Van de Beek’s signature, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to complete his first summer deal.
The Red Devils have been trailing the versatile Dutch midfielder for some time.
However, United’s interest in the 23-year-old has taken a backseat due to their attempts to acquire the Borussia Dortmund star, Jadon Sancho.
Yesterday’s news indicated that the sought-after youngster is waiting for a call from the new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman. But, Solskjaer seems to have managed to beat his Camp Nou counterpart to the Netherlands international.
According to the Express Sport, the Norwegian manager has apparently convinced Van de Beek that Old Trafford is the best place for him to continue his development.
Soon after the two had that conversation, Van de Beek refused to take action in Ajax’s friendly clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
He told Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars he wants to leave Amsterdam, fuelling speculations about the imminent move to the Premier League.
Adding to this sentiment, Fred seems to be heading towards a shock move to Galatasaray.
The Brazilian’s departure for Turkey would free up a midfield slot for ex-Real Madrid target, who at this point seems to be edging closer to linking up with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United have also been working on finding an agreement with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish.
Although it remains to be seen whether the two are mutually exclusive, the Red Devils’ pursuit of the 24-year-old Englishman is now on a ‘stand-by’ phase.
