Jose Zorrilla Stadium is the place where Valladolid received a visit from FC Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga. We have player ratings.

FC Barcelona visited Jose Zorrilla Stadium tonight for a crucial match against Real Valladolid. The Catalan club is struggling to find perfect form in La Liga and a fresh defeat could take them off the race for the title. Lionel Messi was the man to lead the Blaugrana in their attempt to win this evening in a complicated venue.

The Argentine played a spectacular game throughout the 90 minutes that ended with him finally breaking Pele’s record. He assisted Clement Lenglet on the first goal during the first half. Ten minutes before half-time, Serginho Dest assisted Martin Braithwaite in a collective play that Messi also commanded. It was a nearly perfect performance from the captain on a night where he found a perfect partner in Pedri.

Leo beats Pele’s record.

Even though he already reached Pele’s all-time record of most goals for a single club, Messi still wanted to beat this historic stat. It finally happened during the second half through a beautiful combination with Pedri. The youngster assisted Messi with a sublime backheel pass that left him alone in front of the goalie.

With this goal, Leo stands alone as the player with the most goals scored for a single club in football history (644). It’s a night to remember for a player who has given everything to FC Barcelona over the last two decades.
