After an expected controversial El Classico, USMNT winger expressed his feelings regarding Barcelona’s loss to Real Madrid.

Certainly, a lot of emotions came out in the first El Classico of the new season following Barcelona’s loss to Real Madrid. Consequently, USMNT defender Sergio Dest let out his anger after the Catalan side’s 3-1 defeat at Camp Nou.

Dest evidently became the first US player to play in La Liga’s most exciting game. However, Zinedine Zidane’s side got the best of Barcelona.

In the early stages of the match, Madrid took the lead by Fede Valverde’s goal. Though, Barcelona put things on level after Ansu Fati’s exclusive finish.

Although, Los Blancos took charge of the game in the second half following Sergio Ramos’ spot-kick. Also, to end things in a good fashion, Luka Modric finished the game with his cool strike.

Nevertheless, Dest seemed to be adjusting to the Barca game style right from his first Classico fixture.

To no one’s surprise, the American displayed his frustration for his team’s poor performance.

“It was a really tough match, we had chances, they had chances,” he told Movistar. “Too bad that we lost. My first Clasico but I am p*ssed that we lost.”

He added: “It’s my first Clasico. It’s a nice game to play of course. It’s just too bad that we lost the game against Real Madrid.”

Clement Lenglet’s shirt pull on Ramos conceded a penalty for Barcelona. And, the Madrid captain made no mistake to ground it past Neto.

But, Dest mentioned his uncertainty regarding the VAR decision.

“I didn’t see it so I don’t know if it was a penalty or not but I feel like, I don’t know if it was a penalty, but I just have to play through it,” he said.

Focus on the European tournament.

Now after the end of an important fixture, the Blaugrana will need to focus on the Champions League clash vs Juventus.

Ronald Koeman’s side opened up the European championship with a 5-1 win over Ferencvaros earlier. But, Dest now looks forward to playing against the Serie A champions.

“Madrid had chances, we had chances. They were maybe a bit sharper with their chances. They finished and we didn’t,” he said.

“We have another game on Wednesday against Juventus and we have to win that one 100 percent. The team just has to keep going.

“We have to win the next couple of games. The next game is Juventus, Champions League, and we have to win that and get the team spirit back.”
