Diego Maradona stopped the world of football on its tracks for a couple of days after getting into the operating room for brain surgery. The Argentina legend was not feeling well during his birthday celebrations. His doctor initially believed he was in dire need of a medication adjustment. However, they got a major surprise when the brain scan results came back showing a blood clot on his brain.

This obviously urged the doctor to get Diego under the knife as soon as possible. As the news started spreading, La Plata’s clinic started getting crowded by Maradona faithful as a sign of support. The surgery finally ended in less than two hours without a problem and Diego is currently recovering. In the latest update, Dr. Leopoldo Luque revealed how amazed he is for Maradona’s speedy recovery.

Diego is demanding to go back home.

As the hours kept going by with Maradona’s recovery, his personal doctor offered details on how quickly he recovered. He even confirmed that Diego is already walking around and talking with much clearer sentences. To those who don’t remember, the legend famously had trouble speaking as he dragged his speech in concerning fashion.

“The truth is that we’re very happy, he can walk, he talks to me and everything is much clearer,” Dr. Leopoldo Luque explained on La Nacion. “His evolution has been very good, as a precaution we did the control tomography today, which was excellent. He is eager to leave hospital, although the idea is to keep him under observation for at least one more day, but he already knows how he feels, which is in a good condition, obviously it’s very early but his recovery is looking excellent to us.”
