The USMNT are aiming to qualify for the Olympics for the first time since 2008, and the upcoming week will decide their fate.

Christian Pulisic says it’d be a “massive honor” for him to represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

Having beaten Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic in their opening two Group A fixtures, the United States go against Mexico tonight for their final group stage game.

The Americans are already through to the semi-finals where they will have to overcome either Canada or Honduras.

Even if they do qualify, however, Pulisic’s participation in the Olympics games will be a doubt. Chelsea would not be obliged to release the 22-year-old as his participation would mean him missing part of their preseason, with the tournament set to take place between July 21 and August 7.

“The Olympics is of course a massive honor to play in, and to represent your country in an Olympics would be amazing,” said Pulisic, via CBS Sports.

“I am fully supporting the guys in qualifying now. It is something I’ve thought about and that I’ve wanted to play in.

“Obviously I can’t control exactly what goes on and what is best for me at the time and the team at the time, I can’t say, but it is something that I would like to play in.”
