United reportedly placed a bid for Real Madrid star Sergio Reguilon but might have to settle for a loan move in the end.

There is a possibility Manchester United could get Reguilon on loan ahead of next season.

The defender saw his stock rise after impressing on loan last season with Sevilla.

Given his performances last season, the Spanish defender became a wanted man by a host of top clubs. Sevilla, PSG, Chelsea and Tottenham are some of the sides to have shown interest in him.

United are also in search of a left-back name and recently joined the queue of clubs hoping to sign Reguilon.

The Red Devils reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign the defender by placing a bid earlier this week. Reports on the Spanish side claim the Manchester outfit submitted a bid of €30m to Real Madrid.

However, Spanish publication Sport claim that Reguilon might only be available on loan.

He is under contract with Los Blancos until 2023 and the Bernabeu chiefs highly-rate him after he rose through the club’s academy ranks.

The report says Zidane is open to the idea of selling him permanently to raise more funds for summer moves. But the Bernabeu chiefs think otherwise and believe it is too ‘early’ to cash in on him.

Reguilon recently spoke on his future and admits he doesn’t know where he’ll be playing next season.

But with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo to contend with, the 23-year-old might be open to yet another loan move elsewhere.
