The Man United boss substituted the defender as he appeared to have difficulty breathing.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty for Manchester United to defeat Norwich in their league game on Saturday. Minutes before the goal, Victor Lindelof limped off the pitch while holding his chest. The player was not able to continue the game due to breathing problems.

In a post-match interview, Man United manager Ralf Rangnick gave an update on the 27-year-old’s situation.

“He doesn’t remember how it happened,” the manager told the club’s website.

“I suppose he had a collision with another player and couldn’t breathe. He had problems to breathe and his heart-rate was higher than normal.

“We’ve had him checked,

“And, so far, everything seems to be okay but he still seems a little bit shocked.”

Eric Bailly replaced Lindelof and delivered a solid performance as United clinched their third consecutive victory.

Man United keeper David de Gea admitted it had been hard to see his teammate in that situation.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but he was feeling… [struggling] with his breathing,” the Spaniard said.

“We saw it with [Christian] Eriksen and [Sergio] Aguero, and sometimes it’s a bit difficult to see your player acting like this.

“It was better to change, and I hope he’s completely fine.

“He had difficulty breathing and was feeling something strange. The game doesn’t matter, it’s football.

“First of all is life and to be safe.”

The Red Devils climbed up to fifth place on the table and will now prepare to face Brentford in their next league game on Tuesday.
