The latest Three Lions squad for the upcoming international break in September is out.
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill have earned their first call-ups to England’s senior team.
Nketiah is no stranger to the international scene. The 24-year-old thrived at youth level, scoring a record 16 goals in 17 games for the U-21 team. He has got off to a strong start with Arsenal this season, with two goals in three Premier League matches.
Likewise, Colwill spent a number of years with the English development squads. The 20-year-old got promoted after breaking into the Chelsea squad this term. He has started in all four of the club’s games upon spending the past season on loan at Brighton.
Maguire & Henderson in, Sterling still out
Despite trading Liverpool for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, Jordan Henderson is still part of the England set-up. As is Harry Maguire, who hasn’t played a single game for Manchester United so far this season.
That said, Raheem Sterling will be absent once again. The 28-year-old winger, who has 82 caps to his name, has had a strong start to the season. He has started all three of Chelsea’s Premier League games and scored a brace in last week’s 3-0 win over Luton Town.
England will play two games over the international break. The first one is on September 9, where they’ll face Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier in Poland. The Three Lions will then visit Scotland at Hampden Park for a friendly.
