Barcelona eye a free transfer for Serie A midfielder

The Blaugrana could spring a surprise attempt to sign Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka on a free transfer in 2023.

Lobotka is out of contract at the end of the season, making him available as a free agent next summer. The 27-year-old Slovakia international has, therefore, caught Barcelona’s interest. The club’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, likes him a lot. [La Gazzetta dello Sport – in Italian]

Former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino could be in the frame to replace Steven Gerrard as the next Aston Villa manager.
