The COVID-19 hit Blues suffered two more potential problems from their trip to Molineux.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is hopeful Trevoh Chalobah and Hakim Ziyech’s injuries are not serious.

Chalobah and Ziyech suffered knocks during the club’s 0-0 Premier League draw at Wolves on Sunday, causing Tuchel to replace the pair with Saul Niguez and Mateo Kovacic respectively in the second half.

It was an unwelcome blow for the visitors, who had just six players available on the bench amid seven positive COVID-19 cases and further injury problems to their squad.

“We can survive a game, but we will pay the price for sure. Maybe we already do it with all our midfielders,” Tuchel told reporters after the match.

“Trevoh, hopefully, it’s just pain, but at the moment it’s very painful. We hope it’s not serious but we need further examination.

“With Hakim, I don’t think it’s bad. He got hit on his nerve and his calf was tight. We had to take him off, of course.”

The goalless stalemate in West Midlands means Chelsea have dropped six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who beat Newcastle 4-0 on Sunday, in the standings.

The Blues are scheduled to next face Brentford in an EFL Cup quarter-final clash on Wednesday.
