Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has played down rumored interest in the Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi.
Guendouzi has recently emerged as a possible transfer target for PSG and Villarreal. The 21-year-old has fallen out of favor with manager Mikel Arteta.
After the two failed to overcome their bust-up, the young Frenchman seems destined to leave north London this transfer window.
Reigning Ligue 1 title-holders appeared to be ready to offer Guendouzi an escape route from the Emirates.
But, when asked about making a move for the deep-lying playmaker, Tuchel said: “No, that will not happen.” [via Daily Mail]
The German’s words came in the wake of PSG’s dismal 1-0 away loss to Lens. Understrength champions failed to cope with the newly-promoted side.
A disappointing night at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis came as a confirmation Les Parisiens need more depth. But, Guendouzi doesn’t tick the boxes at the moment.
The Gunners are still desperate to offload their out-of-favor starlet, though.
Guendouzi’s departure is key to Arsenal’s hopes of raising funds for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.
The 27-year-old remains Mikel Arteta’s top priority in the transfer window. The Spaniard is seeking for a holding midfielder to anchor his midfield, and Partey fits the profile.
Atletico continue to hold out for the Ghanaian’s £44m release clause. So, for the moment, Arsenal are currently being priced out of a deal.
