Thomas Tuchel is unsure whether Paris Saint-Germain will be able to sign Eduardo Camavinga but he would love to have the starlet in his team.
17-year old Eduardo Camavinga was the standout performer for Rennes last season as they earned their first-ever Champions League qualification by finishing third in the prematurely ended Ligue 1 campaign.
It did not take long for Camavinga to emerge on the radar of European powerhouses, with the likes Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly showing interest in him.
The French midfielder drew more spotlight on himself as he became his nation’s youngest player to receive a senior call-up since 1932 before also becoming the youngest ever debutant since 1914.
Despite the rumors, a move away from Roazhon Park this summer seems unlikely. His market value is considered to be in the region of €42 million, an investment hard to make amid the financial crisis in times of a global pandemic.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel understands the complications behind such a transfer but insists he would not let go of the opportunity to land Camavinga.
“Would I like to have him on my team? Yes, of course,” said Tuchel, as per Goal. “But I can’t talk about other players, who are not from my team.
“He’s one of the best players in Ligue 1. He’s a great player, very strong, with a great future. But he also plays in a great team which plays in the Champions League. But that’s not how it goes, it’s not Monopoly!
“I’m not going to say not to recruit him, but that’s not how it goes.”
