Tuchel gives triple injury update ahead of Chelsea's season finale

Ahead of Chelsea’s final Premier League game of the season, Thomas Tuchel offered injury updates on three key players.

Andreas Christensen will be in the Chelsea squad to face Aston Villa on Sunday evening, but Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante remain doubts.

Thomas Tuchel offered an update on all three players in a pre-match conference before the Blues’ trip to Villa, a game they must win to hold on to their top-four spot in the Premier League.

The Blues boss has been handed a boost for the match in Christensen’s return. The Dane had struggled with a hamstring problem since coming off in the club’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on May 8.

“Andreas Christensen will be in the squad. He did full training today and yesterday without any problems,” said Tuchel as quoted by Football London.

“So he will be back.”

Although Kante, who limped off in the 2-1 midweek win over Leicester City, and Havertz, who didn’t feature against the Foxes, will be subject to late fitness tests.

“Kai did a test today and will be tested in team training tomorrow,” continued Tuchel.

“With N’Golo, it’s going to be very close but there are some hopes he joins team training tomorrow. If not, he’ll join on Monday.”

After the trip to Villa Park, Chelsea will begin preparations for the Champions League final against Manchester City on May 29.
