The Reds were title favorites entering into the campaign while Spurs also seemed strong contenders earlier, but both have faltered since.

Tottenham play host to Liverpool on Thursday evening for what is expected to be a thrilling game of football.

The upcoming opponents both appeared as genuine title contenders early in the season.

Liverpool, however, have suffered a significant drop in standards in recent months, and a successful defense of their English top-flight crown is increasingly looking unlikely.

Tottenham, like a handful of other teams, have enjoyed their fair share of time atop the league table earlier in the campaign but have come tumbling down after a few undesirable results.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Form:

Jose Mourinho’s men put in a strong shift the last time they took to the pitch and have a 4-1 result to show for it, progressing to FA Cup 5th round after beating Wycombe.

Spurs also recorded a 3-1 victory against Sheffield United in their previous Premier League fixture. However, it was only the second time in their last seven league outings that they picked up maximum points.

The north London side are unbeaten in eight consecutive games across all competitions, and another victory on Thursday would propel them to third in the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit one place above their upcoming opponents with an additional match played.

They go into the match on the back of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the FA Cup. It marked the Reds’ second successive defeat, and they are currently without a win in their last five league matches.

Goals have dried up for the champions in recent times, scoring just once in their last five league outings.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Head-to-head:

Liverpool do not have the right form ahead of the crunch clash but they can feel confident because of their superior head-to-head record. Of the last 10 meetings, eight have gone in their way.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Team News:

Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli remain unavailable for selection for Mourinho with Matt Doherty a doubt.

Klopp is still missing his defensive duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, midfielder Naby Keita, and forward Diogo Jota. Jordan Henderson‘s fitness is also a concern.
