Tottenham have impressed on all fronts this term and Ben Davies says the club have never been better placed to win silverware.
Tottenham are showing a different class under Mourinho with the north London side impressing so far this season.
Spurs sit on the top of the table to show for their performances and have only been beaten once by Everton in the Premier League.
In the Europa League, they only need one point from their game against LASK Linz to progress to the knockout stages of the competition. Talks have continued to grow about Spurs being genuine title challengers under Jose Mourinho.
The last time Tottenham won the league goes all the way back to the 1960/61 season. For any form of silverware at all, it goes back to 2008 where they won the Carling Cup (now Carabao Cup).
Like many others, Ben Davies is optimistic this season can be the one they end their 12-year wait for a trophy.
The player was asked if Spurs were in their best position to win a title this term.
Davies responded as quoted by Evening Standard: “I think so.”
“It feels like it’s been a long time coming to try to win something but everyone at this club is determined to.
“It’s not easy to manage a big squad with the number of good players we’ve got here but everybody is pulling in the same direction, they’re players on the bench and players some weeks who aren’t even in the squad.
Davies continued: “But you can see when they get their chance to play themselves, it’s 100 per cent effort and 100 per cent desire and that’s fully across the team. It comes from a desire to win something. The gaffer has drilled into us that we are here to win something this year.
“That comes from that desire and mentality to pick up points at every moment. That winning mentality, creating those good habits of picking up points regularly is exactly where we want to be.”
Tottenham will be looking to further declare their title aspirations when they welcome rivals Arsenal for the north London derby on Sunday. Ben Davies is in contention to feature in the fixture.
