The Sky Blues could cap off an already successful season perfectly by scripting history and experiencing European glory for the very first time.
Champions League success would be “the icing on the cake” for Manchester City following the “very hard task” of Premier League triumph, says Ferran Torres.
Manchester City were crowned the Premier League champions for the third time in four seasons earlier this month. The title, just as it had been on numerous occasions previously, was decided at Old Trafford following Manchester United‘s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.
Pep Guardiola led his side to another domestic honor, the Football League Cup, this term, and he’ll be presented with the chance to guide them to their first-ever European trophy when City take on Chelsea in the Champions League final in the Portuguese capital Porto on Saturday.
“We’ve won the Premier [League], which is a very hard task – you have to work hard throughout the whole season to achieve it,” Torres told UEFA’s official website.
“But a Champions League final [win] would be like the icing on the cake.
“City have never won one, which is an extra motivation, and we’re going to work hard in this final sprint. And we’re going into it feeling really excited, because above everything else it’s about enjoying it.”
