Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola fended off stiff competition to win the LMA Manager of the Year for 2020/21.

Pep Guardiola has won the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for the LMA Manager of the Year.

In a special LMA Annual Awards show on Monday evening, Guardiola was declared the association’s Manager of the Year for a second time. He previously won the award back in 2017/18.

The Catalan’s closest challengers for this season’s award were Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds United), Daniel Farke (Norwich City), Emma Hayes MBE (Chelsea), David Moyes (West Ham United), and Brendan Rodgers (Leicester City).

Rather than get caught up in his own success, however, a humble Guardiola instead dedicated the award to the Manchester City squad and his coaching staff.

“I am delighted to win the LMA Manager of the Year award for the second time,” said the City boss on Monday.

“It is, for me, such a special trophy to win because it is voted for by my fellow managers. An award like this is only possible though if a manager is surrounded by top professionals.

“My players have been fantastic – their dedication and professionalism never wavered, even in a season that has been the most challenging we have ever faced.

“And my staff are also deserving of the highest praise. I am so lucky to have a team of people who give everything they have every single day to make sure Manchester City are the best we can be.

“This award is dedicated to and shared with them.”

Despite a slow start to the season, City produced a remarkable comeback in the second half to win the Premier League by a 12-point margin.

The Citizens also won the EFL Cup in April and can complete a treble by beating Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Below are other recipients from Monday’s award show.

  • Championship Manager of the Year: Daniel Farke (Norwich City).
  • League One Manager of the Year: Grant McCann (Hull City).
  • League Two Manager of the Year: Michael Duff (Cheltenham Town).
  • FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Year: Jonathan Morgan (Leicester City).
  • Barclays FA WSL Manager of the Year: Emma Hayes (Chelsea).
  • LMA Special Achievement Award: Steven Gerrard (Rangers).
