With the year coming to an end, we take a look at the players who obtained the biggest increases in their market value in 2020.

According to the specialized website transfermarkt.com, some players achieved a remarkable increase of €55 million on their market value on this atypical year. We’ll give you a little spoiler: one of the players on this list had over a 200% rise in his market worth. Check-out below which players feature on this top 5.

5. Phil Foden – €30 million

We kick things off with one of Manchester City’s stars. The 20-year-old midfielder had a great start to his season after getting his first cap for England. Although the player was dropped from the squad two days later after a rule breach, Foden’s recent performances have attracted Real Madrid’s interest. The Merengues will have a tough time signing the midfielder, as he doubled his market value this year. Moreover, Phil Foden is currently valued at €60 million.

4. Bruno Fernandes – €30 million

No surprise here. Bruno has been making headlines almost every day, and there’s a good reason for it. The Manchester United midfielder has been involved in half of the Red Devils’ goals ever since he arrived last January. The Portugal international was signed from Sporting for €55 million, a tad below his market value. Now, he takes fourth place on the list as he’s evaluated at an impressive €90 million. Additionally, Bruno is also the eldest player on the list at 26.

3. Ansu Fati – €40 million

The 18-year-old Barcelona wonderkid is the youngest entry on the list. Fati’s impressive first season at Camp Nou earned him a new contract with a €400 million buyout clause. Therefore, it’s safe to say Barcelona doesn’t want to lose the midfielder by any chance, who doubled his worth this season. Moreover, his estimated €80 million value will stop most clubs from taking their shot.

2. Alphonso Davies – €55 million

You may have guessed it, our little spoiler referred to the Bayern Munich man. From refugee to Champions League winner, the 20-year-old already has a fairytale story to his name. Although he was born in Ghana, his family fled from the civil war and settled in Canada. Davies began to play at Vancouver, arriving in Munich for €10 million back in 2019. In light of a terrific season at Bayern, Davies increased his worth by 220% and is valued at a remarkable fee of €80 million.

1. Erling Haaland – €55 million

Who else but Haaland? The Norwegian wonderkid was arguably one of the biggest stars of 2020. Although he is currently out with an injury, Haaland is still one of the top scorers in all of his competitions. His stats say it all: 17 goals on 14 occasions for Borussia Dortmund. His large influence on the German side has been rewarded with a 122% value increase. Moreover, if any club is interested in signing the 20-year-old star, they’ll have to be prepared to face a €100 million market value (although we all know he will never be up for sale with that price tag).
