An ex-Arsenal defender thinks that Kieran Tierney belongs to the list of top left-backs in the Premier League at the moment.
According to Nigel Winterburn, Kieran Tierney has been a source of consistency for Arsenal and is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. With his second season on the run at Emirates Stadium, the Scotland international has been on top of his duty. The Gunners were completely aware of the talent that they were going to bring in at the time of his transfer. Tierney, thus, joined Arsenal in 2019 from the Scottish Premiership side Celtic.
Even though injuries did not let him prosper in north London, the full-back is now an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. Winterburn, who played in the same position back in the days for the Gunners, believes that the 23-year-old has phenomenal qualities. He told FreeSuperTips: “When Kieran Tierney first came to Arsenal, he was injured and unable to train with the team. He came in on a separate rehabilitation programme initially. But now we are starting to see what he can really produce on a regular basis.
“He’s one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. When you consider his consistency, his crossing and the chances he creates. How successful he will be will depend on how many games he plays, how many trophies he wins. But he’s up there with the best full-backs in the Premier League.
“His level of performance has been great. You don’t need anything flashy from your defenders, you need them to do their job well. And be seven out of 10 and above every week, which is exactly what he does.”
