Kieran Tierney has hailed the influence of David Luiz on the Arsenal squad. The Brazilian is always happy to help out youngsters get to ease.

Kieran Tierney was pleased to share the dressing room with David Luiz. In what was a difficult season, the Brazilian defender helped him settle at the club.

David Luiz might not the best player when he’s on the pitch. But he is well known to possess leadership skills wherever he’s been.

From PSG to Chelsea and now at Arsenal, lots of teammates have heaped praise on Luiz for helping them off the pitch.

Kieran Tierney impressed in his debut season at Arsenal but it was far from easy. The Scottish international had to battle lots of injuries before ha had a stable run in the Gunners’ lineup.

Despite being a new-signing himself, the 23-year-old speaks on how David Luiz helped him settle at the club.

“He is a legend, the biggest legend ever and I love him,” Tierney told the Open Goal Podcast.

“He is so good with all the young boys, everybody loves him. He is a proper leader, even if he hasn’t got the armband he still leads.”

“I signed the same day as David Luiz. He is a winner, a born winner. He was saying to me during the season when we were doing bad ‘we are going to win silverware this season, believe me.”

“He is about motivational speeches and all that, when he talks everybody listens.”

Tierney also revealed how David Luiz was happy to help take the pressure off him when the going was tough.

“He said to me one game when I hadn’t had my best game,” he added.

“We drew, we should have been wining as it was a home game, he was like don’t worry, I’m the big name and I will take the pressure.”

“I was just sitting there, one of my first games it all went wrong, the fans were on us and we weren’t doing well.”

“He just went: ‘don’t worry about it, you just keep playing your football and I will take the heat’.”

Tierney was one of Arsenal’s top defenders last season and he’s aiming to get even better next term.
