The Ghana international has suffered a raft of injury problems at Arsenal since his €50 million arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2019.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has suggested adapting to Premier League football has been the cause behind his regular injury woes in north London.

The 29-year-old made his first start since the 1-1 draw against Brentford on February 11 in Saturday’s 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth, scoring the club’s first goal of the game.

As Jorginho was unwell, Partey’s return to the line-up was a welcome boost. The Ghanaian has missed 39 games due to injury since joining Arsenal in 2019. Meanwhile, at his previous club Atletico Madrid from Spain, he missed just seven matches.

“Well, I think it’s adaption. If you go from a different league, normal things happen,” Partey suggested to football.london about his injury problems.

“I am working on everything, I am trying my best. I am trying to help the team any time I can. When I am ready and fit, I will be ready to help the team.”

Despite the injury setbacks, Partey remains a key part of Mikel Arteta’s side. The midfielder has started 19 of their 26 Premier League games this season, helping them mount a five-point lead at the top of the standings.

Arsenal will be back in action on Thursday in Lisbon for the first of a two-legged Europa League last-16 tie against Sporting CP.
